Findons
In order to meet customer orders and delivery dates, Findons need to plan ahead in considerable detail. It takes many weeks for their seedlings and cuttings to reach the state of maturity needed for shipment. Further, they need to produce considerably more product than they have orders for to allow for failures and top-up order requirements.Previously, their complex ordering and stock control system was a manual process with orders and customer enquiries being handled by telephone.
aXcessTen's brief was to automate the process of handling subsequent orders from Findon's customers and manage the stock automatically, in real time, online. This was achieved by the creation of a very basic web front end from where their customers could log-in to check prices and stock availability and place orders. Each customer is recognised by a unique username and password, enabling the system to be tailored to meet each individual customer's requirements.
Within 2 months of 'going live' the system had been used to trade more than one million cuttings online, with associated costs savings that paid for the development investment several times over!
